They May See A Different War

Reader comment on item: 100 Bin Ladens on the Way?

Submitted by Gabi Ehrlich (Israel), Apr 9, 2003 at 10:08

" Watching the gratitude of liberated Iraqis will undercut the Muslim sense of outrage that this war harmed the Iraqi population. "

This may not be the image the Arab world is receiving on television networks such as Al-Jazzira, Abu-Dabi, etc.

The images these networks choose to broadcast are those of mutilated Iraqi children, men in hospital beds, and families seeking refuge.

Whether or not the Arab-Moslem world chooses to believe such propaganda is up to them, but one of the most basic functions of the media is its ability to control what you think about, if not what you think.

Although I hope you are right, I think you may be underestimating, in this case, the Arab world's complete lack of trust of the west, and particularly the US.

Time will tell.
Keep up the good work.
