Solution to Iraq problemsReader comment on item: In Iraq, Stay the Course - but Change It Submitted by Gunther Schiff (United States), Oct 24, 2006 at 20:35 Putting the troops into the desert seems to me to be a bad idea. They will get bored quickly and the morale has to become awful. They would be constantly pulled into whatever problem was going on, and the drawback into the desert will not help the political/insurgency problems. I think the solution is the Balkan solution - break Iraq into its tribal/muslim faction separate countries. The Caliphate which nominally held together all of the middle east and most of the Balkans is no more, and it does not look like the Shias, Sunis, and Kurds are going to be comfortable in bed together. Having our troops away ffrom the population cneters seems to me a waste of man;power and money. Gunther H.
