I would like Mr. Pipes to comment on this if possible.

Mr. House,

Your comments were very thoughtful. You took issue as follows:

"While we're mixing it up with Iraqis, we keep the Iranians and their influence at bay, which is extremely important now because Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons. The deserts of Iraq are in the west. The eastern part of Iraq is where all the population centers are located. If we pull out of the population centers, Iran will move in." I shared exactly this concern in my earlier comment w/o reference to a map because, although Mr. Pipes did say we should move our troops out to the desert, he did say in the next paragraph: "It permits the American-led troops to carry out essential tasks (protecting borders...," indicating he is concerned about border infiltration.

Is there a geographical misunderstanding or oversight?
