Recommendations for the PresidentReader comment on item: In Iraq, Stay the Course - but Change It Submitted by linda (United States), Oct 25, 2006 at 12:28 Dr. Pipes -- I remember these recommendations of yours. Since you used to work for President Bush, I assume you have an easier way to get to him than the rest of us. Has he replied to any of your ideas? If you get through to him, here are a few things I'd like to see him do: Respond to the ineptness of Maliki & Iraqi "government"; highlight the complicity of the UN (although he's done pretty well with this); stop the graciousness to the Clintons (they show no reciprocity in this regard); get Tony Snow out there reminding people about the President's attempts to confront the problem of Social Security (a brave attempt for which he got very little support); announce some more tax cuts; but first and foremost, follow Pipes' recommendation to move U.S. troops to the desert as enforcers rather than being the front liners. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
