Reader comment on item: Why the Left Loves Osama [and Saddam]
in response to reader comment: Which way would secure real democracy?

"..To imagine that the American troops would be great liberators is extremely naive and shows a total lack of investigating into the most basic facts of the region..."

it would be great if you could shed light on what you term as 'basic facts' of the region. To my naive eyes I see Americans as nowhere close to be as ruthless as Saddam. But again, my information is clearly incomplete. However, I doubt if rationalizing their behavior because of their culture will help.

Culturally and racially, there was no difference between S and N Korea. We can see where both the countries have reached today. I doubt whether accepting the illogical fanaticism of some people is going to help. If they confined it within their borders it would still be ok. well now they are spreading it everywhere, for really flimsy reasons. why r these ppl constantly churning up dictators and monarchs who are a threat to everyone? and why do ppl from these countries immigrate to the west and then attack the establishments of the west in the name of 'human rights'?

Should normal ppl 'accept' it as a fact of life and take bombings in trains and buildings as something like its their 'culture'?
