Leftists support Saddam because they are showing solidarity with Saddam's Ba'ath party, which is socialist. Never mind that Saddam has taken the party away from socialist principles. For the Leftist mind, ideology trumps reason every time. In this case an ideological label has eclipsed reason. For more info go to the Columbia Encylopedia article on the Ba'ath party, at:
