Reader comment on item: Why the Left Loves Osama [and Saddam]

Submitted by Eugene Narrett (United States), Mar 20, 2003 at 00:19

Great piece, Daniel; but in commenting on this macro-type scale, always remember the Gramscian, cultural left that never really cared, functionally, for 'the workers' but used lefty poses for a revolution in human relationships that destroy the west's (& most of the world's) basic traditions and institutions (eg. the family; marriage...).

The suicide hijackers hardly represented the wretched of the earth; and that their objectives had nothing at all to do with socialism and everything to do with - no, not again! - militant Islam.

So desperate is the Left for some sign of true socialism, it overlooks such pesky details.
