Quiting Might Have Been An Option - Had the Republican Party Not been Neutralized Already

Reader comment on item: Why I Just Quit the Republican Party

Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Jul 22, 2016 at 13:40

Not since President Reagan has there been a Republican Party of consequence, long since diluted with the pandering meanderings of the age of Clinton. Many attempts to defeat the Republicans by democratic antics were fended off; but Clinton the First (I) made the process simple by sucking the 'centrist' mentality into thinking that they could soothe and salve their political conscience with kick backs to their voters while footing the bill by soaking the same taxpayers for favored projects while still selling out those same taxpayers for budgets cycles not yet seen in the next millennium- that's right, the same budget cycles we cannot afford now.

The Bush II years were immersed in the Islamic Terrorists' threats not dealt with during the Clintonization of American politics. Who remembers that the WTO attack in 1993 was a test? The lesson was not learned and on September 11, 2001, that failure settled America's future for the next two generations.

The point is: even vultures know when to abandon the carcass. The Republican Party has not only failed the Lincoln model of giving a life for the principles of governing by righteous endeavor; but in this latest combine of compromise, being a neutralized ideology that can no longer function by the founding document because of a rebellion to and serious disrespect of its true power.

Whatever they may believe they might accomplish between now and November will no longer allow the republic to survive intact; bringing a shame on them of which they will never know was what killed the hopes of 'we the people'.
