Reader comment on item: Why I Just Quit the Republican Party

Submitted by David H Spence (United States), Jul 22, 2016 at 01:37

The man who appeared most Preidential in this past four-day ordeal, for the paucity of what got said from him, noble restraint and uncompromised distancing himself from the entire sorry spectacle was John Kasich, governor of Ohio. Reading up on his background, acumen, character, I find him to be the most qualified to run for the White House in 2020.

Pardon me for being apprehensive of a huge buildup of blue collar Joe sixpack white voters who may not flock so readily to him as to somebody else. However, the GOP should be entirely so embarrassed by who they picked this time that the voice of moderation as a reprimand to the ongoing disaster we are facing now should prevail. Or perhaps I am being a little too optimistic.

For now, unless the race gets too close, it would be best, most favorable to align with Gary Johnson and vote for him. However, should the race be too close, I'll have to, though reluctantly, endorse Hillary Clinton.
