GOP wrongly supported Trump?

Reader comment on item: Why I Just Quit the Republican Party

Submitted by Raul Marks (United States), Jul 22, 2016 at 22:34

He won the necessary delegates fair and square, did he not? In fact, his only competitor at the end Ted Cruz gave up because he realized he didn't have a mathematical chance of winning. Its not Trump's fault, is it?

The undeniable fact is that, whether or not Trump is a true conservative, he has espoused many of the ideals that conservatives can agree with. Trump has stated that radical Islam is the problem and that "Islam hates us". No one else has been that honest. Trump has voiced his opposition to illegal Mexican immigrants and pledged to a build a free wall that Mexico will pay for. No other GOP candidate offered that. Trump has has been solidly against the Black Lives Matter movement and isn't afraid to challenge them. No other candidate has been as aggressive.
