Our is not time for classical conservatism.

Reader comment on item: Why I Just Quit the Republican Party

Submitted by Phil Mond (Australia), Jul 27, 2016 at 05:35

Ours are times calling for non-ideologically driven, rational, efficient and flexible leaders - the likes of Trump, Putin, Xi, Modi, Netanyahu.

In my view, the biggest challenge on President Trump watch will be disintegration of European Union and endless, messy, low level warfare across the European continent. Under the circumstances, NATO has definitely outlived its mandate.

I wonder if in 8 years time US congress will vote for a constitutional amendment allowing the third term for President Trump under the exceptional circumstances of a big war.
