Reader comment on item: Why I Just Quit the Republican Party

Submitted by Joe (United States), Jul 22, 2016 at 23:17

Well, you have the right for free speech as should have everybody, but I think your personal attacks on Mr. Trump are not very thoughtful as often it is when things become personal.

I'm just an unimportant legal immigrant coming from Germany and living now in Texas. Funny thing was what I predicted in my small chamber at home for the last 15 years or so became reality. I was sure Obama would be a disaster when he started running 9 years ago. I was sure Germany would become a hellhole and any other European countries fate would not be much better.

Trump is at this point the best choice for the world and I'll try to make it short to tell you why:

1. He has "BALLS" and in this size! He is running against the establishment, he literally erased with one hand the political correctness and put his other hand into the wasp nest of saying Islam is a problem and we need to ban Muslims at least for a while. For that alone he is a hero even if he would not become president! So who cares if he talks about his "balls" or not?

2. I do not agree with everything he says or wants, but he is in a way genuine. I don't expect he will solve all problems for me/us, as this is my/our own responsibility. He has his own agenda and I'm also fine with his own profit out of the presidency. I'm sure he will profit from building a wall, as he is a businessman and builds walls. But what has this to do with fascism?

3. If he would just solve 10% of what he says he would that would already be a good reason to vote for him.

4. He's a successful businessman. Does that mean he would have success in everything he did? Probably not. But compared to the losers in DC like Paul Ryan, Romney, no name it, he has done more for our country as all those losers who talk right and turn left.

Could I be wrong? Sure. But I'm analyzing things without emotions. Many of the accusations not just you did about Trump have their roots in emotions. This is never good for analyzing a scenario. Also many accusations are pure opinions and not rooted in facts whatsoever. How can somebody accuse him to be a fascist when he actually never was a political figure?

Regarding the GOP I do not care because I think it is all about America and the real figures who sit in the government. I don't care in which party they are if they do the right things.

Let me close with the opinion I think you underestimate the real danger of Islam right now. This ideology survived 1400 years and to say it would vanish in a few years and we can watch the last steps of Isis is naive. There are 1.6 billion Muslims out there. Not everybody is a serial killer, but anybody could become one and many support their fellow serial killers. This ideology would be best defeated the same way like the Nazis were defeated! All else will just defeat symptoms, not the roots.

I do also know that eradication of Islamism will not solve all evil, but it would be as good as eradication of the 3rd reich was!
