Pope Marmalade and The Imam

Reader comment on item: My Debate with London Mayor Ken Livingstone
in response to reader comment: Regarding Pope Marmalade 3rd.

Submitted by Eamonn Gavin (Ireland), Apr 4, 2007 at 18:56

Having just read the purported response from PM3 (Pope Marmalade 3rd) to my message, ending with the insulting "paranoia is an ugly human condition", I suggest that PM3 would do well to reflect on his own state of mind. I did NOT suggest that his nom de plume was anything other than a "bit of fun". I totally accept that. Nor, incidentally, did I say that the presenter of the relevant radio programme was "brainless". He is indeed far from it. My comment about brainless drivel in the media was a general comment, over which I stand. I will not dwell on these aspects; a simple reading of my letter will confirm my point.

My accusation of bias in the media stands up to scrutiny. To give an example, the same radio programme has now allowed not only the nom de plume "Pope Marmalade", but also "The Blackrock Vicar" (Blackrock being a Dublin suburb) and also "The Buddha of Belfast", yet they have actually informed me via their CEO that "The Imam of Terenure" will NOT be permitted!! They have declined/refused to give any reason. I leave it to non-biased readers to consider who is biased in this instance. In my opinion, it is a case of unequal treatment of religions. That is NOT paranoia, but simple fact.

Best Wishes,

Eamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
