Reader comment on item: My Debate with London Mayor Ken Livingstone

Submitted by Tom Power (United Kingdom), Feb 2, 2007 at 12:11

I emailed the Mayor's office saying:

"Sir, This debate is publicized on your web site; it was attended by 5000 people, and video-recorded and transcribed at the expense of the tax payers of London. When, where and how will the transcripts and video be made publicly available to those tax payers?"

Much to my surprise, I recieved a reply promising the transcripts (not video, but it's a start) of the main speaches by speaker (not the full debate, but ditto) will be posted publicly by the Mayors office:

"Thank you for recent correspondence regarding 'A World Civilisation or a Clash of Civilisations' conference on 20 January 2007. Well over two thousand people attended the event and debated this important issue for Londoners. Transcripts of the main speeches from Ken Livingstone, Daniel Pipes, Salma Yaqoob and Douglas Murray will be made available shortly on the GLA website at www.london.gov.uk. Yours sincerely Comfort Labeodan Co-ordinator London Stakeholders "

Today, February 2, I received a raw transcript from the mayor's office to edit.
