Biased Media also Applies in Ireland

Reader comment on item: My Debate with London Mayor Ken Livingstone

Submitted by Eamonn Gavin (Ireland), Feb 1, 2007 at 12:21

Firstly, may I say "congratulations" to Dr. Pipes and Mr. Murray on a master class in debate in London.

The neglect by the media to cover it is, of course, a disgrace and a neglect of their duty and responsibility to inform. This bias also applies here in Ireland. The media spits out its anti-American, anti-Western venom, for reasons best known to themselves. Maybe they would actually LIKE Shari'a law! The population in general has its opinions formed by what it hears in the media, but more and more people here are now beginning to think for themselves and voicing their opposition to the media's constant brainless drivel. Hopefully, we are at last beginning to realise that, just because persons have the privilege of being in a position to voice their opinions constantly in the media, does not mean that those persons necessarily know what they are talking about!

Incidentally, as an illustration of media bias, we have a radio station here in Ireland which allows a listener nom de plume of "Pope Marmalade 3rd", also "Reichmeister Benedict" (presumably referring to the German Pope Benedict), but has refused/declined to allow me to use "The Imam of Terenure", which I attempted to use in order to see how "equitable" they are. (Terenure is a Dublin suburb). That is not only bias; in my opinion it betrays an anti-Christian slant.

Best Wishes, Eamonn, Dublin.
