Dr Pipes in London, an excellent talk..

Reader comment on item: My Debate with London Mayor Ken Livingstone

Congratulations Dr Pipes on the way you presented your views in Yesterday's London conference. I regret missing that. But I followed the details with my friend among the audience.

You have surprised many people that were brainwashed about a Dr Pipes that is in the extreme. My friend told me that what you presented is very moderate, academic and hate free. He pointed out (being in the same hall) that he liked the idea that there is a war between the civilized and the barbaric. The thing that exists in all cultures although the urgency now is to deal with the Islamic barbarism or radical Islam.

I, personally, agree with you on the issue of moderate Islamic figures that should be encouraged. You seem to have ruled out Sunni Scholar Qaradawi Yusuf ,unlike London mayor who is his friend. I support you on this take as Qaradawi did not show any signs of moderation especially in area like converting from Islam to other religions where he asserts that death is the penalty for such action. His extreme views about sexual minorities as well. Basically, Livingstone based on Statistics to show London was a multicultural success.

Dr Pipes did agree that there is success and to maintain it, there must be all means of actions in the fight against the unrgency of the moment which is radical Islam. That was an excellent presentation much less than a one on one debate everybody expected. The way this went through though can be described as very constructive.
