A breath of sanity in an insane world

Reader comment on item: My Debate with London Mayor Ken Livingstone

Submitted by Jackie Goymour (United Kingdom), Jan 23, 2007 at 19:10

Daniel and Douglas - Thank you, thank you so very much for your magnificent performance on Saturday morning 22 January 2007. I felt it was a seminal moment in our capital. It was obvious that Ken Livingstone saw this as a platform so that he could strut his usual anti-American anti-Western anti-Israeli factless diatribe to an ethnically diverse audience, in the hope of garnering huge applause. Well lookee here. He got much much more than he bargained for. When the most applause and standing ovation was for Douglas Murray, I knew that Ken had lost it.

Daniel Pipes came very well prepared, and I mean very well prepared. He wiped the floor with Livingstone, and his daft acolyte Respect member Salma Yacoub. By her very presence as his seconder, Livingstone had, in my view, nailed his colours to the mast. Livingstone was I think shaken that he had not come out on top, with this audience, his core voters.

Roll on the next election for mayor. Bye bye Ken - we hope. Daniel and Douglas - I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
