Thank God schools like Columbia still exists!

Reader comment on item: Columbia University vs. America

Submitted by Chris Adams (United States), Apr 8, 2003 at 00:06

First off, clearly the majority of readers here are neo-cons who would love nothing else to rid the world of Islam and spread McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts through-out the world.

God forbid students are shown the other side of hate that the current adminstration now employs. Of course, no one wants to see Americans die - but we shouldn't want to see anyone die - and the fact is the US' war machine is primed and lubed for that exact reason - to cause death in self-interest. That premise is being questioned in Columbia and let the students come to terms with it... they have minds like you. They get enough pro-US garbage everywhere else.

Outside of DeGenova's comments, why be scared about what is discussed? Worried there is truth to it? From travels, I've learned the only people who think the US is "righteous" in its foriegn policy are Americans. The rest of the world, China, Turkey, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Russia, France, Germany, Mexico, etc.. believe the US only gives to get. These are supposed to be our friends, aren't they? People, world-wide, are now more anti-American than ever before. Why? Perhaps these professors are trying to educate the youth on why that MIGHT be true? Should we just continue to tell the kids they hate us because they are jealous?

Go Columbia, force the kids to figure it out!
