What about Islam?

Reader comment on item: How Israel Can Win

Submitted by PT (Israel), Apr 4, 2006 at 20:59

How can one write an article about changing the minds and hearts of Palestinians without addressing the affects of Islam? Does Daniel Pipes really believe that Islam plays no roll in the current mindset of Palestinians? Does he really believe that an overwhelmingly Muslims populations will one day accept a Jewish state right next to theirs when they currently can't even accept religious diversity among their own kind?

Hearts are tested when one is powerful not weak so while a strong response from Israel may change Palestinians' behavior it will not change their hearts. True Muslims will never change as it's clearly forbidden by their religion. Just like their terrorist prophet before them they will resume violence as soon as they'll again have the upper hand. (Can we say with confidence that Arab countries currently at "peace" with Israel would not invade Israel today if a strong victory was guaranteed?)

With those kind realities, why compromise? At best Israel will buy a temporary peace and a fragile security. The only logical conclusion is to move all the Muslim Palestinians to Jordan (already 80% Palestinian) before their numbers increase even more making such a plan increasingly difficult. Once that's done, secure the border in preparation for the next battle for as long as Islam exists the next battle will come. (Current plans of partitioning along the West Bank may render Israel indefensible, a point surely not missed by the Palestinians.)
