How Israel Can Win---They Must, but....

Dr. Pipes is clear that Israel must win in the struggle against the Palestinian Arabs. However, he must keep in mind a number of issues. The "Palestinian Arabs" is a fiction as an actual, defined "nation." Their "formation" by other Arab nations was the for the sole purpose of wiping out Israel. Prior to the Balfour Declaration in 1920 there was no "Palestinian Arab" nation.

Even if Israel ceased to exist tomorrow---there would be no Palestinian Arab "nation" to take its place geographically. All these Arabs are refugees---and they need to be repatriated from Judea and Samaria (and Gaza) to one or more of the 22 Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

The real problem is with Israel and it's citizens. They successfully wage battles militarily, but they consistantly refuse to defeat their enemy. Understandably, when one does not wage war with the objective of decisively defeating and destroying their enemy---it gets very tiring to persist in one's own national defense. I believe the Arab world understands this and they are capitalizing on this inherent weakness in Israel's political ethic. Given this---I'm not so sure that Israel will win.
