Please Stop saying Alexandra gave name of Persia to Persia. This is a wrong statement. Very funny. As a matter of fact. The name of Iran became Persia when Cyrus the great took over other dynasties which rule in Iran. Iran is much older than Persia. 10000 years civilization. Before Cyrus the great, other tribes of Iran made a very big civilzation which are the oldest civilization in the world.

These 3 civilizations are Eilam, Mades and Partian. They were all Iranian, but many years after them Cyrus the great who took over those Iranian tribes who were rulling in Iran, gave his own family name( Parsa) to that land. The name of Cyrus the great is Cyrus (Korosh) parsa. Therefore he changed IRAN to PARS (which is his own family name) and made the biggest & glorious empire that world ever known. PARS empire.

When many many years after that, in the time of Darius(III) when Alexandra defeated Darius the III, and occupied PARS, he just couldn't Pronounced the correct word. Instead Pars, he pronounced it Persia. As the same as People who speak english. they are not pronanceing it Persia. They say Persian. or in Arabic, they can not say Pars. they say Fars instead of that.

If you go to Iran and ask ordinary people in the streets are you Persian, or are you from Persia? they don't know what persia or Persians means. but if you ask them are you Parsi or fars everybody say yes. Please stop saying alexandra macedonian gave this name to IRAN. It is absolutely wrong, funny and disrespect to all Iranian. But what happen that the name of PARS again became Iran is because Hittler who had a very good relationship with Iran king (Reza-shah), after he found his(German) root ancestry back to Iranian (in the very old book, is been mentioned that Germanium is one of the persian tribes and most Iranian know that their race is the same as german), in 1935 he encouraged Reza-shah king of Iran use the the old name of that land which was Iran instead PARS.

Since Iran means the land of Aryan in Parsi. Perhaps they wanted to make sure that all world know that they are aryan. Any way this the story of PARS & IRAN which has nothing to do with alexandra. In my opinion Iranian People should use both name to make sure that the rest of the world underestand there is no any diffrence between PARS/Persia and Iran. I highly suggest that the ruler of Iran change the name of Iran to IRANPARS, which is the combination of both to avoid any further confusion for the rest of the world.
