Reader comment on item: Americans Wake Up to Islamism
in response to reader comment: Is the holy Quran God's words

Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kaffiristan (Australia), Sep 21, 2010 at 03:12

Mr hossain, writing from bangladesh, invites another reader ...
" SO WITHIN THIS TIME READ THE BELOW BOOK. IS THE QURAN GOD'S WORDS written by Dr. Zakir Naik, available in internet and you tube. "

It's a wonderfully magnanimous gesture - but I wonder if Mr Hossain, while inviting others to read information that is structured to induce others to end up having a belief system that approaches something that he himself believes to be true - has he ever read any scriptures of any other religions? Has he read Patanjali's Sutras? The Pali Canon ? The Mahayana Sutras? Bhagavad Gita? The Tibetan Book of the Dead? The New Testament? Any scripture from any other religion?

I hope he is not recommending the muslim belief system without seriously investigating all other avenues. That would be hugely ignorant.

But then again, if he hasn't , I can understand the constraints he must live under. What happens to muslims when they are seen reading the Bible or the Torah or Patanjalis Sutras by other muslims in a muslim society? Does Mr Hossain have the freedom to do so - without having to offer an explanation? Would Mr Hossain be free to announce tomorrow that he had decided to leave Islam and become a Buddhist . - without experiencing any repercussions?
