Reader comment on item: Americans Wake Up to Islamism

Submitted by Michael Vanyukov (United States), Sep 7, 2010 at 18:23

Respectfully, it is not only "Islamists' insistence that there can be no such thing as "moderate Islam." It is questionable whether that viewpoint should be simply dismissed as erroneous, especially considering that Islam was founded as a political ideology, the foundation of Muhammad's totalitarian state, as Mr. Pipes is certainly aware. A utopian ideology cannot be implemented, but Shariah, which any Allah-fearing Muslim is supposed to follow (any of its four schools), has been implemented - perhaps not in its totality, but quite well, indeed too well for comfort. Nobody targets ALL Muslims anywhere (that's a straw man) - exactly because not all of them are sufficiently Allah-fearing - but that does not make them "moderate". Now, in some countries, ALL representatives of other faiths are targeted, but those countries are Muslim.
