All they create for themselves is war!

Reader comment on item: Americans Wake Up to Islamism

Dear Dr Pipes:

While your readers are debating whether moderate Islam can exist, just two days before the holiest and most celebratory day in Islam (the end of Ramadan), we got a very important proof that moderate Islam does not exist. On Sept 9, 2010, just before the end of Ramadan, in a car bomb blast in Russia, Islamist separatists killed 16 people. The sad part is not that some cowards took sixteen innocent and unsuspecting lives, the sad part is that those who will celebrate the end of Ramadan and those who will celebrate Eid did not do the tiniest gesture to mourn this killing. There was no mourning, no editorials, no letters to the editors, no statements from an intellectual, and no candle light vigil. And Farid Zakaria -- most liberal among his group-- who recently returned one of his civilian honors recently in the context of GZ Mosque, had nothing more left to return!!!

Muslims have woven such a web around them that your reader Brian T from France might just be right: a sustainable moderate Islam cannot exist. First, Islam has to be defended at all costs, then, it is the duty of every muslim to fight for the cause of Allah with Allah's permission, then, it is the duty of the Muslim that all versions of worship other than its own are sinful or, worse, inferior, and, finally, it is the duty of every Muslim ruler to establish Islamic way of life onto his subject. Under all these constraints it is not surprising that all moderate thoughts get degenerated into extreme thoughts. Muslims do not lie when they say that theirs is a perfect world in which peace is of the paramount importance. They just do not know that under the principles that they have outlined for themselves, peace simply is not possible. Thus, while they clamor for peace day in and day out, all they create for themselves at every moment, is war.
