Is a moderate Islam possible?

Very unlikely because it is also has political objectives...Islam's goals are antithetical to separation of church and state and representative democracy. Unfortunately, I think we need to fight against Islam and the countries that export it, in the sense of a very long "Cold War"...just as in the conflict with Communism there will be hot zones, i.e., Vietnam, Iraq, Cambodia, Afghanistan, etc.
