Within the formulation of the "HOLY NAME" there are six forms counting for the six days or cycles of creation. There are the four revealed forms and the two hidden forms There is YH and then VH but there is also YV and HH and NO I do not make anything up. I am drawing straight from the tradition as it was taught to me.

As far as the written Torah is concerned there were written texts that existed from the time of the Temple of Solomon but they were written in archaic Hebrew and not in the form that we know today. The language that we see today nominaly as Hebrew is the Aramaic or Babylonian text different from the Archaic which few people outside of scholars could read. The original was rewritten in the more modern text during the time of the Babylonian exile and that is the text we have today in all of the synagogues. This was thought necessary because during the time of the exile it was feared that the people would forget who they were and turn to the worship of strange gods.

There is a written tradition but there is also an oral tradition alongside the written which is used to proprely interpret the written. The one cannot be properly understood without the other as both together complete the whole Torah. During the exile much of the oral tradition was finally written down and codified so that foreign ideas could not be inculcated into the writings of the sages. These writings constituted the greater body of the Talmud which became the guiding light for all further teaching and transmission. A text can be interpreted only in the light of those rules set down in the Talmud. Any other idea which does not conform the requirements of the Talmud is illegitimate.

Again, as far as the "HOLY NAME" is concerned, it is not a name such as you would ordinarliy consider like James or John. Rather, it is a symbolic formulation which expresses a complete system of cosmology as was percieved by the Hebrew Sages. Within the NAME itself is an explanation of the workings of creation revealing how the universe is constructed and the process by which it came into being. Einstein reitterated this concept with his famous equation " E=MC squared. ( Please excuse the limitations of the computer. It lacks the means to write scientific notation.)
