Since your theory is considerably different from the History books I've read, perhaps you can identify the history books you've written and of course I will read them. In the year 2007, over 70 thousand murders were committed in the USA. The majority of them were between family members, and religion had nothing to do with it. But as an acknowledged atheist, or agnostic, you no doubt find it satisfying to blame religion for all the world's problems.

It is true that some religions are at war. Islam has infused Muslims with the need to war with the world until all nations submit to and worship allah. Muslims have been at war since Muhammad introduced allah as the god of this world and the war against the world continues until today. Remember Sept 11, 2001, and the Muslim attack on the Twin Towers?

Osama bin Laden, a multi-millionaire has been attacking various nations to convert the world to Islam. You refer to the "Old Testament describing many murders, rapes, wars and atrocities either approved or encouraged by tyrannical, immoral god". Having studied the Bible for 40 years; I can attest that very few wars were ever sanctioned by God, but in fact many were sanctioned by a god, the god of this earth, also known as Satan. Please note, I'm not trying to convert you or any one else to Christianity.
