What do I suggest?

Reader comment on item: On Islam and Islamism
in response to reader comment: Good post ... but just 'what' do we do?

That's a hard one.

If they don't take care of Islamism, someone else will. And the "collateral damage" will include them.

Taking out Saddam was a huge victory, in my opinion. The mistakes were made afterwards. Anytime shots were fired from a Mosque, it should have had a 1000 lb. "Bunker Buster" bomb dropped on it. I guarantee you, that would have stopped artillery fire from Mosques. The Iraqi Constitution should have been written for them, the same way General Douglas MacCarthur wrote Japan's Constitution after WWII. We should have made oil facillities and exports priority to pay for the war, and for the Iraqis' infrastructure.

Sadr City, now, should be bombed.

After taking out the Taliban, we should have dropped food. Period.

The Patriot Act, signed into law just 45 days after 9-11 (overwhelmingly passed by Congress) has gone far in preventing another terrorist attack. http://www.lifeandliberty.gov/highlights.htm

While not specifically mentioning Islamic terrorism, that's what it addressed. Of course, I'd go further -Islamic profiling should occur, a method Israel employs, at all U.S. airports. Immediate closing of any Mosque spouting Islamic "radicalism". Immediate deportation for being a member of any Mosque spouting Islamic "radicalism".

I could go on, but you get my drift. When these "moderates" are forced to see what hell Islamism brings to them, perhaps they themselves will start to get rid of it, and not "turn a blind eye".

And if it recruits more? So what. The minute they pose a threat to us (or to Israel), bomb the crap out of them. This method of "detriment" stopped Nazi Germany and the Japanese. Why not Islamism?

Your suggestion, "Islam(ism) must be declared (legally) to be a non-religion but instead a virulent ideology and an enemy of the government and people of the United States of America."

- a very good suggestion. But with our current Congress, it will take another 9-11 for it to happen.
