Towards a Modern Islamic Way of Life

Reader comment on item: [Moderate] Voices of Islam
in response to reader comment: Nasher Latif is an Islamist

Time is ripe. In fact, even at this end of my life, I strongly feel that the Muslim World has been moving in the wrong directions with wrong understandings and this may lead to their massive destructions.

It will take at least 30 to 50 years for the rebuilding of Iraq. Similar may be the destiny of the other Muslim countries. It is advisable not to blame others and examine the wrong footsteps of own self. One step forward and two steps backward can never bring any progress to any nation.

Even in religious matters now it is high time that the Muslims must think of a "modernized Islamic way of life" through "reconstructions in religious thoughts" as Sir Muhammad Iqbal expressed in his book. It is in this direction cumulated opinion of the educated Muslims should be considered together, sooner the better.

With my above opinion I do not think I want to open any debate but to create an impetus for the renaissance of Islam in the modern world through a "modernized Islamic way of life".

Here is a request. Can you help me by furnishing many more E-mail addresses, both of Muslims and of non-Muslims, in Bangladesh as well as in abroad, to me so that I may send the above message to them?

Yours sincerely,

A. B. M. Shamsud Doulah*
