Reader comment on item: [Moderate] Voices of Islam
in response to reader comment: No religion of the world preaches wrong doings but speak all positive things

Sorry Hamid, but there is nothing taught by religion that cannot be learned through simple human decency and much of what is taught by religion leads to hatred, bigotry and violence. The whole history of the world has proven this to be true. Although true that Islam prohibits theft and other crimes, Islam also incites its followers to use violence and force to overcome those who don't believe in Islam and to compel them to submission even upon death.

Islam dictates barbaric punishments such as stoning to death, the chopping off of hands, and public decapitation by sword, things that no civilized Western society would tolerate. I do not need your imaginary deity to teach me how to live in peace with my fellow man. You say that "those who do not believe in God commit the worst crimes."

Prove it, Hamid. In a survey done of prisoners in American penitentiaries fewer than one percent of violent criminals claimed to be Atheists while the other ninety-nine percent were God believers. To my knowledge no war has ever been started by Atheists but many have been started by religions zealots and almost all have been fueled in part by religious conviction, and war is the worst crime against humanity that we know of. And those nineteen twisted, sadistic, psychopathic religious fanatics who hijacked four commercial airliners on September 11, 2001 were all believers in your god and caused the death of nearly 3,000 innocent people as they prayed to Allah.

I rest my case.
