ON ISLAM AND OTHER RELIGIONS

Reader comment on item: [Moderate] Voices of Islam
in response to reader comment: No religion of the world preaches wrong doings but speak all positive things

Hamid, you are living in a world of delusion. There is not the slightest shred of evidence that any deity has ever existed, including your god Allah. There is not the slightest shred of evidence to support a belief in an afterlife. Religion has enslaved the minds of Man for thousands of years and continues to do so today. It is absurd to witness the horrors wrought by adherents of Islam, such as the events of September 11th, and then claim that "they were not true Muslims."

It was precisely their belief in Islam that led them to commit these atrocities. There is nothing in the fundamentalist beliefs of Al Queda that is not supported and found in the Quran. And it is absurd to blame the rape victim for her own rape by insisting she should "cover up her body." I've read that in European countries with large Muslim populations the worst offenders of sexual crimes are young Muslim males. It is their basic lack of respect for women, as taught by Islam, that has created this lack of morality in Muslim men.

As for the women, as free human beings they should be able to dress however they like without fearing physical attack by depraved individuals fueled by religious bigotry. The truth is, Hamid, that our dialogue is going nowhere, although it may prove instructive to other readers. I am a rational humanist who believes that we are responsible for our own actions in this life and that this life is all that we will ever have. You have been brainwashed by an evil religion that teaches hostility and intolerance and the belief in some imaginary afterlife. You are obviously content to continue with your belief system. We have nothing more to say to one another. Peace be with you.
