Reader comment on item: Finding Allah in Unlikely Places

Submitted by Wilhelm (United States), May 4, 2006 at 19:23

Alot of Muslims seem unable to laugh at themselves. Sure, there are Christians and Jews that won't budge an inch on religious respect, yet still, there are comedians who are themselves religious, yet make jokes on their own faith. Honestly, though; if you are not comfortable with your God, than is that respect? Do you really respect your religion if all you do is fear it? You're constantly afraid of your God, so you can't sit down and laugh with Him? *Ahem*... but in the end, one must ask "Does God have a sense of humor?" "Does He do things with his great power for his own amusement?" I believe the answer is yes, He does. God enjoys irony so much, otherwise all these evils done to us would be pointless cruelty; it's because God enjoys ironic twists of fate that might seem macabre to us mortals, but He is beyond us.
