What A Muslim Thinks of This

Reader comment on item: Finding Allah in Unlikely Places

Submitted by Faisal Riyami (Oman), Apr 26, 2008 at 13:05

Hi Dan,

I am a Muslim. You know what? This stuff doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother my mom, my dad, or any of my close friends. The problem is that we don't get coverage, we just not hype material! No drama no CNN.

I am more concerned about children dying in Iraq, Sudan, Palestine, and the great gulf between rich and poor in general.

I hope that non-Muslims will take time to consider that there are more than one billion Muslims...that's a lot of people, and to put us all in a box is not just ludicrous, its a crying shame, because we are colourful, and have and will continue to contribute to society in many positive ways.

One last thing; there is absolutley no justification in Islam, as indoctrined by the Quraan, to act violently against someone just because they insulted you or dont believe in what you believe in(for ex chapter 41, verse 34, or chapter 6 verse 108, or chapter 109)

Unfortunatley many Muslims cannot demarcate between Religion as a faith and Religion as a Tradition, the latter being void and null implicitly by virtue of what Islam tried to achieve in the first place (eradicate ignorance yesterday and in the long run)

Peace be Upon You All that Search for It.
