Are Islamic moderates truly doing enough?Reader comment on item: Islam's Future Submitted by Edmund James (Canada), Aug 14, 2002 at 16:06 You are erudite and resolute, and I try to catch you, whenever possible, on TV stations and in the newspapers. I welcome your profundity.Yes, there are Islamic moderates and caring people, there must be, but are they truly doing enough? Sadly intelligent, humanistic people do not gather together enough and speak out, and then a Hitler, or a Stalin, or a Hussein, and a bin Laden overwhelms them by speaking to the ignorance of the masses and enflaming their impossible desires. And what really bothers me is that they, and we, allow the militant clerics and imams to preach hatred and stupidity.
