How long do we wait?Reader comment on item: Islam's Future Submitted by John (United States), Aug 14, 2002 at 08:52 I agree with Mr. Pipes that Islam must change from within. Mr. Pipes cites Turkish theologians' recent changes as an example of what needs to be done. However the changes in Turkey now taking place are a result of forces started there 80 years ago by Ataturk. Ataturk was no Muslim theolgian. I don't see any Ataturks in any other Muslim countries rising to the occasion. How long does Israel and the West have to endure militant Islam while we wait for forces of reform to come forth in Islam?
