Dear DP:
The Turks have been there for a while, as you know. And they are constantly struggling to keep their secular government from going back. What you cited was only re-inforcement.

A true test will be to see if Musharref is really another Attaturk and goes through with the execution of the Dan Pearl killer. After all, it was only a Jew who was killed, and according to the Sharia, the killer should not be executed. Let's see if he really is the man the West hopes he is.

In short, the moderates are not making headway. Laurents' powerpoint solution, an astounding parallel to the Hashimitte Solution", i.e Herb Weitz, are actions to promote the moderation Jordan would bring to Islam...not a hope but a viable plan that has the Sauds panicked. I would think that you would agree with his assessment and solution? Do you?
