in response to reader comment: Muslims the world over - wake up to the ills of the pervert clerics!

I agree with these comments. i was abused while i was taught at several mosques at the age of nine. i think it is a shame that this abuse is ignored. when i told my mother, she told me not to tell my father or he would kill the imam. why did nobody listen to me? i have since found out that my mother was abused by an imam when she was a child.

i was made to feel that it was all my fault. that is so wrong!!!!!!.

when will children be heard in the muslim community? why is this injustice compeletely ignored? i have since spoken to many men and women and found this problem to be quite widespread which makes me very sad. i lost faith at the age of nine and now at the age of 32 i still feel ashamed that i was treated in this way through no fault of mine. i was basically told that this is something that happens when a girl reaches a certain age, ie the coming of woman hood. frankly this is disgusting behaviour (there is no word for it) and i feel that men that take part in such abuse should be sent to prison for a very long time.

It is time that we take this matter seriously and contact the police when there are suspicions in relation to such behaviour. you will be surprised how rife it is.
