Hey missy ,
Good thing about internet is that one can claim anything about himself/herself and you taking full advantage of that :)
Your response was quite funny ... you claimed you have studied islam in detail but you do not know how many wives prophet had and just relied on using 'countless'. Well next time you are imposting just ask some muslim kid , he'll tell you the number and there respected names also. So just do little homework before making a comedy again.

Now coming to actual topic , I donot see many males around my friends / families , far relatives etc. have more than one wife. The permission is always there in religion but than its upto the person to use it wisely. On a highway , if they have a speed limit of 120 kph, it does not mean you drive at 120 even if its raining or snowing or slow traffic on road. Permission is always there to drive upto 120 but its to be used 'appropriately'. Coming back to issue of multiple marriages in Islam, yes its allowed and it was very practical solution to discrepancy in male:female ratio of societies during olden days. Men would go out for wars as attackers or defenders and few of them would make it back. Fatality rate in males were higher than females. Naturally in any society Male:Female ratio is always around 50:50 , but good olden days , that was not the case. Due to higher fatality , male were in higher proportion than female and thus you can expect many women / girl to stay single IF multiple marriages were not allowed.

Hinduism approached the same problem differently , they would burn the widow alive along with the body of her husband ( 'satya' ). This malpractise was abolished after advent of islam in India. Islam has a better approach , widows can marry any eligible man and thus can start a new life altogether.

Next time you try to impost a message as a Muslim , just do a little homework and get some basic details.
