Much Needed Clarification

in response to reader comment: Mirza is not an Arabic last name

Submitted by Mirza is multi-ethnic last name (United States), Mar 16, 2015 at 21:12

the only thing you really proved was that it is an Islamic name. Ottoman Empire was a Muslim one and did a lot of their governance in Arabic. Amir is an Arabic word adopted by Persians like other words/phrases used through "Muslim world", ex: inshallah, alhamdulliah, etc." Mirza is also prevalent Indian name amongst Indian Muslims and was recorded during the Mughal Empire (Muslim rule of India). Sorry, its not exclusively Persian.

There are many people that have no linkage to Iran and have Mirza as a last name, see most famous SUNNI Muslim judge in Lebanon (some argue that Shiite Lebanese have links to Iran).
