Slave trade

Reader comment on item: Arabian Sex Tourism

Submitted by Johnny (United States), Oct 10, 2005 at 14:31

Slavery in the US and the rest of the world would not nearly have been as widespread an industry had it not been for the slave trade run for the most part by Arab slave traders. Arab slave trade routes and the Arab slave trade business form a significant part of African history. While the West's participation in slavery can not be denied, the Arab world isfar from innocent in capturing, selling, trading and using slaves. The middle east and the Arab world has a long history with slavery ...
I know of no religion east or west that condones slavery or prostitution or any other abuse of humanity. I do know that man has the ability to abuse religion and it's sacred texts to absolve himself of sins and justify and any war, murder, rape, prostitution, etc.

The point I believe is that those who engage in these sinful practices and/or voice belief in these practices being ordained by God should be called out for their lies and abuse. This is not what is meant by "God is love".
