I do not think anybody would say India is doing nothing about child abuse.

in response to reader comment: Indians Reform India, Not Outsiders

India is reforming itself but it is due to a combination of internal and external bodies working together.

However, the Indian Government is NOT in denial. Western sex tourism is being combated by Police forces in the West, working with local Police forces in India, Thailand and other source countries.

So there is an acknowledgement in non Muslim countries that there is a problem, and slow but positive steps to stop child sexual abuse.

What annoys me is Muslim rethoric that there is so problem with sexual abuse in Islam. What is obvious to everybody else is that Mohammed example of having sex with a 9 year old girl, and the objectification of women, means that Islam is a facilitator of child abuse, not an institution that stands against it. Any adult male having sex with a 9 yo girl is committing an immoral act. Whether she is married to her abuser or not, it is still abuse.

Until Islam is reformed to clearly state it is against slavery, forced marriages, under age sex with children female genital mutilation and against paedophilia, it has no moral basis to comment on any other religion or society.

I do not believe that this will stop a single act of child abuse, but it will stop the Islam being used as an excuse for these despicable acts. Mohammed was wrong having sex with a 9 yo girl and for having sex with slave girls. It was immoral then and is immoral now. Islam needs to acknowledge this, but as a realist I cannot see this happening.
