Reader comment on item: "At War with Islamic Fascists"

My comments are in reference to your comments in the August 14, 2006 "At War with Islamic Fascists" email. Specifically: (6) "...word fascist misleading in this context. Few historic or philosophic connections exist between fascism and radical Islam. Fascism glorifies the state, emphasizes racial "purity," promotes social Darwinism, denigrates reason, exalts the will, and rejects organized religion – all outlooks anathema to Islamists. In contrast, Radical Islam has many more ties, both historic and philosophic, to Marxism-Leninism. ... During the cold war, Islamists preferred the Soviet Union to the United States; today, they have more and deeper connections to the hard left than to the hard right." The Fascists and Communists are both the "hard left." They both want the government to have power to force their view of what society should be like on the rest of humanity. They are only different in what they preach. That is why Stalin and Hitler were allies. They both used darwinism or athiesm to justify doing whatever they wanted. Murdering millions who disagreed with them.

The Islamists just use a different arguement to justify their actions. Their god, like the emperor of Japan did for the Japanese, always justifies any immoral act they want to commit as long as they are commiting the act to further their particular version of Islam. Or failing that at least the victim isn't one of THEIR "true believers." That is why there isn't much of a voice against the terriorists in the community of Islam. They know that if they speak out they will be placed on the target list. I believe many of the peaceful Muslims pray for the Christains and Jews because they know that if the Islamists ever win, the peaceful Muslims will be subjected to the Religion of peace's version of Mao's cultural revolution.
