Mr. Pipes, you state "Few historic or philosophic connections exist between fascism and radical Islam".

There certainly is strong historical connections between the secular fascism of the Nazis and the religious variety of the muslims. Did not the Mufti of Jerusalem aid and conspire with Hitler during WWII. I see the same mass demosntrations, chanting, mob violance, instituionalised hatred and even the Nazi salute in Hezballah et al.

Other parallels are strong: Intense victimhood, desire for world domination, return to the glorious epochs of the past, Ummah = Volk, etc. One only difference is the islamic fascists' leaders are completely messianic, which the secular variety were not. It is no longer for the Fuehrer but for God.

No, there are plenty of connections.
