In opening up trade of nuclear materials and technology to India President Bush has aided that country's ability to arm up and put itself in position to defend itself (and counterbalance) or to retaliate against Pakistan and Iran.

People hear the threats of the Iranian nutcase against the U.S. but they forget that Iran is much closer to India and Israel. Iran will be a direct threat to both of those nuclear armed countries long before it has a capability to actually attack the U.S. in a meaningful way.

With respect to Pakistan nobody pays it much attention because it's current regime is a secular and rational one. But the Musharraf regime is literally one bullet away from overthrow and an Islamist revolution is as likely as most other outcomes should Musharraf go down.
