Interesting but ironic

I find it fair comment that the press both in the US and elsewhere will often avoid calling the terrorist spade a spade.

However, as a Briton, I find it rather ironic that you date this fastidiousness to the current Arab-Israeli conflict. Historically there was much support in the US press (and other organs of power), on both left and right, for Jewish terror groups in the 1940s, when Britain was attempting to govern Palestine through a UN mandate. Equally, what to say about the widespread support in the US for the provisonal IRA, surely a terrorist group in Mr Pipes' definition?
