Your comments about the media's--and for that matter our entire country's--reluctance to name our dreaded enemy is dead-on accurate. During the Slaughter at Breslan, Russia, I was appalled to note that the Los Angeles Times failed repeatedly to note that this was Islamism in its most brutal and naked self. "Chechyan Rebels," I think they called them, and, of course, the standard referral to "Separatist Militants." Such emasculated relativism is unprecedented. Imagine referring to the Nazis as "German Anti-Jewish Activists." Or Imperial Japan as the "Pan-Asian Partisans." Or the Fascists as the "Mediterranean Control Fighters." Had we not used the correct name for those philosophies during the war to eradicate them we could very well be calling them "Master" today.
