A Spade's a spade - dig?

Reader comment on item: [Beslan Atrocity:] They're Terrorists - Not Activists

Submitted by Tony Mora (Australia), Sep 8, 2004 at 03:03

Well said, Daniel Pipes ... a lion in the press den forsooth! My favourite on Aussie ABC is a prominent anchor who persists in calling Beslan 'the incident' and the murderers simply 'Chechens'.

The press in the Anzac region have even reported soapie watchers - of a Brit longrunning show called 'Coronation Street' - complaining that the breaking Beslan news caused the postponement of the episode. Their excuses later boiled down to the fact they were tired of Government terrorism beatups.

I've found myself in total agreement with writers like you, David Brooks and others who almost alone are sounding sane in a Bush America whose leader finished opening Pandora's Box.

You made sense from your first to your last word but, God help us, how many will agree?
