Reader comment on item: [Beslan Atrocity:] They're Terrorists - Not Activists

Submitted by Max Edison (United States), Sep 10, 2004 at 14:19

Yes, these guys are, or now thanks to God, were, terrorists. But what do we call a USAF pilot who drops a bomb on a village? A brave hero, and defender of American values. Or a soldier who machine-guns an Iraqi women in a car? The Germans called the RAF nightbombers in the Second World War "terror-fliers." The British in Palestine in the mid-1940s called the Stern Gang "terrorists," and now the Israels call them the fathers of our country. Words are words, not sticks and stones.
