Reader comment on item: [Beslan Atrocity:] They're Terrorists - Not Activists

Submitted by Martin Kalaydjian (United States), Sep 8, 2004 at 14:39

There is no rational reason to call people who kidnap, hold hostage and then murder small children anything but terrorists.

If these people aren't terrorists, then who is?

Once again, the press bias is shining through. They sympathize, or are intimidated, by these cowardly murderers.

The worst offender in all this is the Associated Press (AP) who downgraded terrorists to militants quite some time ago. Within a short while, they will start calling them "hooligans" or "trouble makers" if the present trend continues.

All I know is ... soften the labels all you want, they still are the worst sort of animal on the face of the earth and should be dealt with harshly and brutally. The weaker we react to them (either physically, or metaphorically) the more encouraged they are in committing more acts of terrorism.

We should show them no respect, and give them no consideration.
