"Terrorist" has become a catch-all for anyone and any group whose actions we disapprove of.

When you jump on the label-'em-a-terrorist bandwagon you delegitimise a group's raison d'etre. Of course, not all groups have legitimate or reputable methods, but to tar them all with the same brush lends none of them credence.

The ANC were a terrorist organisation. So were the PLO. So were George Washington & his boys back in the day.

The truism has become trite now, but one man's terrorist really IS another man's freedom fighter.
